Alyssa Meadows says, "My most recent project, Every Woman I Know, is a series of portraits depicting every woman I personally know who has been a victim of sexual violence.

Everyone who participates is photographed anonymously, and those who elect to have a public portrait done are photographed both ways.

This further emphasizes that despite the safety of many voices and the movement of #MeToo, many women still do not feel comfortable coming forward publicly, and this is visibly represented by how many women only participate anonymously. In these exceedingly hostile times, the voices of women need to be echoed more than ever, and our stories need to be heard. When we can elect a man who openly admits his disdain for consent as our nation's leader, or when we need over 30 women to come forward with accusations before we doubt the credibility and character of a beloved comedian, we exhibit an obscene failure to listen to and believe women's stories.

By standing together, we can change the perception that this is not a serious or frequent issue and bring attention to how necessary a shift is in our society's values regarding women and our place in it.
I grew up in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania, and studied photography at University of Miami and Penn State University. Photography has been a deep-seated passion for years, and a supremely rewarding endeavor.

My body of work predominantly explores photojournalism, documentary, & reportage, often focusing on political issues from environmental concerns to the ramifications of rampant sexism in our society.

If I don't have my camera in hand, it's most likely because I'm hiking, kayaking, or producing documentary films.

My experience in the photographic industry is varied and focused heavily on strengthening the community. I serve on the ASMP-NY Board, and recently revitalized the Young Photographers Alliance summer mentorship program.

I also freelance as a Photo Editor for Shutterstock, and was previously a Photo Editor with People Magazine. Whether I’m working on personal projects, bringing a client's vision to life, or developing behind-the-scenes & promotional materials for films, having my camera in hand is a natural extension of self.

I aim to capture critical moments, share important stories, and explore life's greatest adventures, while lending inspiration to others.
