FLEETING 14 by Temporary Collective

Temporary Collective says, "We see through eyes still fresh from childhood. However far removed, we focus on the familiar. We remember so that we may return to the familiar thread which links each piece, each body, each group of bodies, together.

But oftentimes the nostalgia does not reflect reality. Sometimes we must construct our own nostalgia, out of our memories and dreams. Our half-truths and hallucinations Out of almost’s and could be’s. Reality is relative, but remains “real.”
We are all in transition - to where we don’t know. We don’t want to forget the homes we came from, and all those fleeting childhood moments, so fragile and so treasured.

We must preserve; we must endure. “Fleeting” is the beginning of a collection of nostalgic moments bleeding beautifully together. We invite you into our temporarypause, a collection of moments between moments. One pause responds to another, one moment passes into the next.

Our childhood experiences become collective; our sense of self is temporary."

Collective Bio:

The temporary collective is an intimate conversation between three like-minded photographers in transition, inhabiting the liminal space between post-graduation obscurity and emerging success.

This collective consists of three female photographers living in the Bay Area: Madeline Dignadice, Maddie Shelton, and Mica England.

The three attended Academy of Art University in San Francisco together, but it wasn’t until Fall 2016’s Fine Art Project course that they discovered their shared strengths, subject matter, and stories. Post-graduation, they continue to explore shared themes of nostalgia, dreams, and memory.

Career Highlights:

"Fleeting" has been selected for the 2018 Lucie Foundation's Emerging Artist Shortlist. Image "fleeting 2" is a part of from here on out, vol. 1 - opening at Object Space Gallery in Washington next friday, September 7.

All members of the collective have exhibited with Academy of Art University, and were all selected for AAU's portfolio review. For individual career highlights, please visit our website.

LET'S GET LOST by Sheila Archer

Sheila Archer says, "Night Riffs"  -- For me, night photography is like jazz/blues -- spontaneous, raw, present.  With a complexity that calls for layers/montage in order to hear the feelings and taste the sounds. Night is the essence of time and space -- a great beyond to which we are all connected in ways that we cannot begin to conceive.  But therein lies the wonder.  And the silence and solitude."
